NEW YEAR’S PROJECTIONS
I went to Christmas party in early December, and as a party game a piece of paper was passed out to everyone seated at the table.
It read: Its Dec 9th 2015, Why have you had a great year?
I instantly connected. I had been angsting about changes and resolutions not to mention stressing out about bills. But I loved this. Its not a resolution, its a projection. It happened. Not… its going to happen or I HOPE it happens. It engenders the FEELING of accomplishment. What would make a good year? So we’re playing mind tricks with ourselves but in a good way. Its better than the resolution which has a high failure rate.
You’re working with WILL not WISH. To use your WILL you have to be actively involved. Im not concerned about the HOW so much but I keep seeing the finished product. Im believing it. Its habit of thought. All things negative and positive perpetuate with Habits of Thought. Most important, make sure its something your really want. The more emotion behind your will, the more likely you are to achieve it.
Part of my Projections for this year is that I reach certain time and speed numbers on my triathlons, specifically a Half Ironman I plan to do in August. A half ironman is 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike followed by a 13.1 mile run. Yes, ALL in one day. This will be my second event of this scale. I have been doing triathlons for about 5 years now. I did Toughman Half Ironman in Croton NY in 2012. I am proud of the accomplishment– of actually doing it and finishing it, but I’d like to take it further. I had trouble keeping up with the volume of training. I want to have things more structured with small mini goals along the way. More on this in later blog installments. The point is, the more DETAILED your goal is, the more you know what you want, the easier it is to visualize and believe your projection.
You start with your Projection, and move to your Belief. And equally important is your Daily Habit of Thoughts. Stay focused, not obsessed. Believe. Visualize. Then your other habits related to your goal begin to gel. You’ll get thoughts, you’ll follow through with Action. These things will become your habits and you’ll stay on track. If you have one “off” day, just get back into your new thought habits and stay focused.
But what about the How, you may ask. How do I get my goals accomplished? It will come to you, you’ll attract it or be attracted by it. Trust that the knowledge or know-how will find its way to your brain. First you have See it (in your brain), Believe it, and make that your Habit.
